Nicole Maguire Run With Me - Official VideoOfficial video by Nicole Maguire Run With Me, first track release from her new album “What You Really Mean” released October 29th 2012 in Ireland.

The Video Shoot & Process…

I shot this video for Nicole Maguire back in March 2012 using a Canon 7D DSLR camera and a guide demo track of Run With Me. The lighting was a simple setup of two continuous softbox lights. We took about a dozen different takes till enough was captured.

The Canon 7D shot at a frame size of 1920 x 1080 which was way to large for my laptop to handle, a 1.8 Ghz machine with 4Gb RAM running Windows 7, when in Adobe Premiere Pro the screen would just freeze. I needed a way to edit the HD footage so having scoured the web for a solution I learned a technique known as proxy editing with Adobe Premiere Pro.

Proxy editing follows the process of converting all of your HD footage to a lower resolution while still maintaining the exact same file names, in my case I choose 640 x 480 pixels. I then store the lower resolution files in a new folder and import that folder into Premiere Pro. You begin to edit the video with the lower resolution file and my laptop could handle the workflow very easily. When your video edit is ready and that includes all your cuts, transition etc. you save and exit Premiere Pro.

The next stage is to move or change the name of the lower resolution files folder. Now start up your Premiere Pro project once again and the program will prompt you for the location of the moved or renamed folder files, at this stage select at least one of your original HD videos (assuming you had them already imported) and Premiere Pro will start to rebuild the project with the HD files this only takes seconds. In essence you have tricked Premiere Pro and now on your timeline is your edited video in high resolution. The final stage is to render it out to a format of your choosing.

Enough of my technical ranting and on with some info about Nicole Maguire.
