Download Facebook Videos – Free Browser Trick – Chrome Firefox Safari

Download Facebook Videos - How To - Free - Step 1

Here is a simple trick to download Facebook videos. I have tested this browser trick using Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer and it works on all. There is no need for software downloads, browser plugins or any complicated tutorials explaining how to download Facebook videos, this browser trick is done in 3 simple steps. Lets gets started…

Download Facebook Videos

Step 1 – Click on and start watching the video link you want to download from Facebook.

You will have to login to your Facebook account first, even if the video you want to download is public.

Typically Facebook video links look similar to these:

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=123456789012&set=vb.809459235&type=3&theater
https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=123456789012
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=123456789012&set=vb.809459235&type=3&permPage=1

Download Facebook Videos - How To - Free - Step 1

It doesn’t matter which type of link (long or short) you see in your browsers address bar because we are going to make a very simple change to the start of the URL  What I want you to do is change or replace the letters www to m so that any of the Facebook video links start with https://m.facebook.com/ or a good example is

https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?v=123456789012&set=vb.809459235&type=3&theater

(notice the m at the start instead of www).

Now with the new video URL changed simply hit return on your keyboard or click go. This will take us to Step 2

Step 2 – Right-click and choose your “Save As” method on the Facebook mobile video page.

With the video now loaded in your browser you should be seeing a mobile version of Facebook. I want you to right-click in the area around the video and choose “Save As” or “Save link as” etc. Do not right-click on the video picture thumbnail as this will only allow you to save the video still image. I have found the easiest way is to right click on the video title and choose “Save As” etc. Refer to the image below – Green area is good, Red area is not good.

Download Facebook videos - saving to computer

Step 3 – Save the Facebook video .mp4 to your computer

Your computer should now prompt you to save the file, it will have a file name similar to this 123456789012.mp4

You can rename it or save it as is. Your Facebook video is now saved to your computer.

Nicole Maguire Run With Me - Official Video

Nicole Maguire Run With Me

Nicole Maguire Run With Me - Official VideoOfficial video by Nicole Maguire Run With Me, first track release from her new album “What You Really Mean” released October 29th 2012 in Ireland.

The Video Shoot & Process…

I shot this video for Nicole Maguire back in March 2012 using a Canon 7D DSLR camera and a guide demo track of Run With Me. The lighting was a simple setup of two continuous softbox lights. We took about a dozen different takes till enough was captured.

The Canon 7D shot at a frame size of 1920 x 1080 which was way to large for my laptop to handle, a 1.8 Ghz machine with 4Gb RAM running Windows 7, when in Adobe Premiere Pro the screen would just freeze. I needed a way to edit the HD footage so having scoured the web for a solution I learned a technique known as proxy editing with Adobe Premiere Pro.

Proxy editing follows the process of converting all of your HD footage to a lower resolution while still maintaining the exact same file names, in my case I choose 640 x 480 pixels. I then store the lower resolution files in a new folder and import that folder into Premiere Pro. You begin to edit the video with the lower resolution file and my laptop could handle the workflow very easily. When your video edit is ready and that includes all your cuts, transition etc. you save and exit Premiere Pro.

The next stage is to move or change the name of the lower resolution files folder. Now start up your Premiere Pro project once again and the program will prompt you for the location of the moved or renamed folder files, at this stage select at least one of your original HD videos (assuming you had them already imported) and Premiere Pro will start to rebuild the project with the HD files this only takes seconds. In essence you have tricked Premiere Pro and now on your timeline is your edited video in high resolution. The final stage is to render it out to a format of your choosing.

Enough of my technical ranting and on with some info about Nicole Maguire.

About Nicole Maguire…

Nicole Maguire has been writing music since she was 12 years old. Having her first original gig at 14, is wasn’t long before Nicole know that her lifelong journey would be in music.

Having  finished school, Nicole went on to study Music Management and Sound engineering at Cork’s Colaiste Stiofain Naofa.  All aspects of the industry were covered here and the course created a deep foundation for Nicole’s career.

By the time Nicole was 21, she had released  independently her debut single ‘Lipstick Girl’. This song received rave reviews within Ireland as well as ‘best single’ in independent magazine ‘Backstage Traffic’. The Star newspaper stated that “Maguire will make the rest of the country sit up and take notice”.

In August 2008, Nicole released her next single ‘I’m Gonna Be’ and the following March her debut album ‘Fight The Score’ hit the shelves. Nicole also toured with Nanci Griffith in Febuary and this led her across the water to Nashville for the first time.

To date, Nicole has toured in Europe and America, worked with renowned producers Karl Odlum (The Frames, Gemma Hayes), Ciaran O Shea (Cyclefly) and more recently Nicole has begun working on her new album with Thomm Jutz, Nanci Griffith’s producer and guitarist. She has also written with award winning songwriters from Ireland, the UK and The USA.

Google Pay Tribute To Les Paul

Google Pay Tribute To Les Paul

Today Google pay tribute to Les Paul the inventor of the solid body electric guitar. Below is a screen-shot of the Google homepage where you can actually strum the guitar strings and make a sound. It would have been a nice touch if the picture was of a Gibson Les Paul with strings. Up until his passing aged 94 Les Paul performed two shows every Monday night at NYC’s Iridium Jazz Club on Broadway and 51st St. Today would have marked his 96th birthday.

Les Paul was also known as the inventor of multitrack recording. His innovative talents extended into his playing style, including licks, trills, chording sequences, fretting techniques and timing, which set him apart from his contemporaries and inspired many guitarists of the present day. He recorded with his wife Mary Ford in the 1950s, and they sold millions of records. Slash from Guns N’ Roses would be a good example of the sound of the Gibson Les Paul guitar.

Apparently if you use the Google Doodle in the U.S.A you can record and play-back your efforts. Google has used the power of HTML5 to create the guitar so you can play with your keyboard (using the letter keys) or just use your mouse. I have tried using it on my iPad but cannot get sound from it.

Twitter Mentions Of Google Pay Tribute To Les Paul:

@dannybloomfield‎  wow that is so cool RT Whoa, this Les Paul tribute is one of the coolest Google Doodle things ever. Very interactive!

Mick Flannery – Goodbye – Live at St. Mary’s Collegiate Church, Youghal

Recently I had the pleasure of filming Mick Flannery live at St. Mary’s Collegiate Church in Youghal, Co. Cork. This was part of the www.sacred-root.com youth project. I adjusted the levels from the original footage and also tweaked the colour using Adobe Premiere Pro’s 3 way colour corrector. I was pleased with the final result and look forward to filming the rest of the upcoming gigs. Here is the final output on YouTube.

Mick Flannery – Goodbye
Lyrics

I lay in your arms
In the room where you had borne the scars.
It was late at night,
And the city lay asleep outside.
And the moon was in your hair,
And it all was so unfair, or was it, dear?
I said I’m leaving soon.
I must go and do what I must do.
You said you’d understand.
But I really don’t see how you can.
When I said Id make the time
And tomorrow Id call by, that was a lie.

I’m no ladies man,
And I never will be one of them.
I didn’t steal from you.
And what happened here was nothing new.
Not to make it all sound vain,
You lay the man, you lay his name, but lay no claim.

I cant explain no more.
Ah girl, come on, you knew before,
Before you took me home.
I can only work if I’m alone.
And when I said goodnight tonight,
When I said goodnight tonight, that meant goodbye.

YoughalOnline.com Live Webcast – A Big Success

I am really pleased with the result of the second YoughalOnline.com Live Gig Broadcast which was streamed using Ustream.tv on Thursday 29th January 2009. The band “Little Big Man” performed a live set at Claycastle Recording Studio, Youghal and also an interview with front man Brian O Glanby.

1,570 viewers accessed the webcast over the hour with traffic coming mainly from Ireland, UK, USA, Netherlands, & Australia. We had a chat box enabled on the site and at one stage there was 144 active users chatting . Below is a screen shot of the Ustream Metrics for the broadcast.

Getting the Traffic

Part of the success of this webcast lay in pre-planning. A  group of the people involved in this project posted the gig details on social networks such as Facebook, MySpace & Bebo also SMS Text, Forums, Email and traditional word of mouth. I also created a YoughalOnline.com Facebook group and also a Facebook App for people to install so they could watch the webcast from within Facebook.

Why not check out these links:

The Facebook traffic was very good with a lot of app installs and a good community to inform of the upcoming broadcast. It’s become a lot clearer  that you have got to use the social networks  in order to reach wider audience.

Watch The Playback

Un-edited playback as it was broadcast on the night. Time 57 min 32 secs watch it all or scrub through.

Drumming Bear – Video Promo for Claycastle Recording Studio, Youghal

Below is a short video promo I completed recently for Claycastle Recording Studio in Youghal. It was all a bit of fun and a play on the popular YouTube video the Cadbury’s Gorilla Ad. My new YouTube widescreen settings are working well on this video as mentioned in my last post.
